The Council of Cahtolic School Co-operative Clubs, one of the oldest Archdiocesan parent clubs in the nation, is an organization to which all Catholic parent clubs, in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, are encouraged to become members. Our mission is to unite ourselves, combine our efforts, and to pool our resources in the interest and cause of Christian education in this Archdiocese. The council's focus is in four main areas; Family, Love of God, Education, and Activities. Family A strong family unit is improtant to the community, to our schools and to our parishes. To help strengthen the ties between home/school/parish and community, an annual Parent's Institute is held in March. Through this institute, programs are presented to enable parents to deal with situations that may affect their children, morally, socially, and academically. The Regina Matrum Award is presented annually to honor an outstanding and representative Catholic mother of the Archdiocese and at the same time, focus the attention of the public on the ideals of Catholic motherhood and of genuine Catholic family life. Love of God God is the very reason for our existence and should be the focal point around which our daily lives revolve. As a group, we recognize the importance of God in our lives an uphold a lively devotion by offering two types of activities: Spiritual and Service. By offering Masses and Morning of Reflection, the opportunity to come together and grow spiritually is offered to all members. Members can also take part in apostolic services offered such as the monthly birthday parties at Madonna Manor, the annual "Clothe A Child" campaign, and the annual "Keep Christ in Christmas" project held in cooperation with businessmen in the community. In these ways we try to make God come alive for others and as a group we strive to live a life which is completely devoted to Him. Education An objective of the Council is to promote and encourage activities directed toward the Catholic education and welfare of youth and provide a channel of information to affiliated parent groups. Our close association with the Archdiocesan board of Religious Education and the Superintendent of Catholic Schools allows us to keep all informed and aware of what is happening in our schools. We are also able to offer suggestions and input to these departments reflecting member clubs ideas and concerns. Annually, we have workshops to assist clubs and individuals to become better oriented in schools activities and experiences by sharing and exchanging knowledge and ideas. Activities An organization depends upon new membership to help it survive, grow, and experience renewal. To help insure these things, a reception honoring new Presidents of all member clubs is held annually. The purpose of this event is to strengthen the relationship between the schools and the Archdiocese and help new members get better acquainted with not only C.C.S.C.C. members but other parent club representatives. The Annual Luncheon, held in the fall, is one of the largest social functions in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Every school club along with their pastor, principal and members is encouraged to attend. This event presents the opportunity for all schools to emphasize the important part Catholic education plays in the community. We ask that you give the Council your support and encourage your school club to do likewise so that together we can unite our forces concerning the welfare of the individual Catholic Schools within the Archdiocese of New Orleans. We think that the four aspects of the council will help parent clubs not only develop new programs and activities, but will unite all of us to combine our efforts and pool our resources in the interest and cause of Christian Education. All members of parents clubs are invited to attend any of our functions. Officers and/or their duly appointed C.C.S.C.C. representatives are invited to join the Council as individual members after completing their term of office. It is important that if you decide to join, the organization becomes what you make it. The C.C.S.C.C. can not do it all alone. We need your help and concern.
